● Treilang 2026: Inter-Village Development Championship

Treilang 2026 represents a groundbreaking approach to community development through healthy competition among the 125+ villages under the Patharkhmah Civil Sub-Division. The name “Treilang,” meaning “to strive forward together” in Khasi, embodies the spirit of collective progress that defines this initiative.

Competition Framework:

• Developmental Scorecard: Villages will be evaluated on sanitation (ODF+ status), water management (100% FHTC under JJM), education indicators (school attendance, dropout prevention), health metrics (MHIS enrollment, immunization coverage), and infrastructure maintenance
• Phases: Registration and baseline assessment → Implementation period with administrative support → Field verification → Grand finale with awards ceremony
• Recognition: Top-performing villages receive development grants, certificates, and public recognition
• Community Impact: Creating a sustainable culture of self-driven development where villages proactively improve their quality of life
• Expected Outcomes: This model, if successful, will be replicated across other sub-divisions in Ri-Bhoi District, making Patharkhmah a pioneer in competitive community development.

A grand closing ceremony incorporating finals of Sports, Music, Art and Dance competitions shall also be held.

● Comprehensive Electricity Infrastructure Overhaul (RDSS)

Status: Ongoing | Timeline: 2025-2026

Under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), Patharkhmah is undergoing its most significant power infrastructure transformation since electrification.

Infrastructure Upgrades:

• Physical Improvements: Systematic replacement of aging wooden poles with high-tensile steel structures, complete overhaul of 11kV LT/HT transmission lines, installation of higher-capacity transformers, and action against defaulters or illegal accessors.
• Enhanced Grievance Redressal: Dedicated electricity complaint helpline, SDO-level oversight of pending cases, and standardized resolution timelines (48 hours for complaints, 72 hours for infrastructure faults)

Expected Impact: Reduction of monthly outage hours from 8-12 hours to under 2 hours, extended reliable access to previously underserved villages, improved voltage quality for agricultural and commercial use.

● Patharkhmah Science & Technology Exhibition 2026

Status: Annual Event | Venue: Patharkhmah Model Degree College/ TBD

This flagship educational initiative aims to foster scientific temper and technological innovation among the youth of Western Ri-Bhoi, aligning with national constitutional principles and state development goals.

Exhibition Categories:

• School Projects (Classes VI-XII): Original science models, experiments, and research demonstrations
• Agricultural Technology: Farmer-driven innovations in irrigation, crop management, and post-harvest processing

● New Sub-Divisional Office Complex

Status: Project Approved/Under Construction | Significance: Permanent Administrative Hub

The construction of a purpose-built Sub-Divisional Office represents the institutional permanence of decentralized governance in Western Ri-Bhoi.

Design Features:

• Integrated Administration: Dedicated spaces for all branches (General, Magisterial, Revenue, Development, Registration, Relief & Rehabilitation, plus upcoming Excise and Supply branches)
• Citizen-Centric Design: Public facilitation counters, comfortable waiting areas, display boards for Citizen’s Charter and schemes, accessible design for elderly and differently-abled citizens
